Norfolk rock band Deaf Havana have premiered the first single from their upcoming third album, Old Souls, scheduled for release later this year.
Boston Square is not only the first single from the new album, but is also the first single as a now six piece.
After the departure of founding member and vocalist Ryan Mellor in 2010, Deaf Havana continued as a four piece where they toned down their sound and released the hugely successful album Fools And Worthless Liars in 2011. Throughout 2012, Matt (also known as ‘Thew’, brother of front-man James) and Max played alongside the band for live shows, until this year when they were added as full time members.
Deaf Havana aren’t one to shy away from revamping their sound with every album release, and I feel Old Souls shall continue with this theme. Boston Square keeps the raspy rock edge, but with an old school vibe throughout, at points even reminding me of some kind of iconic Bryan Adams song we’d all sing along to.
As well as premiering the new single, Deaf Havana have treated us to an 8 date UK later this year, starting in Southampton on October 17th, and ending in London on the 25th.
As well as Slam Dunk Festival during May bank holiday weekend, James, Chris, Lee, Tom, Max and Matt also have the huge honor of supporting Bruce Springsteen at Hard Rock Calling on June 30th.
Boston Square is released July 1st, Old Souls is available for pre-order now, and tickets for the October tour go on sale Friday (17th May) at 9am.
