Top 10 Singles: August 2013

We Own The Night – The Wanted

Chosen by Katie, The Wanted release another horribly catchy single that you can’t help get stuck in your head no matter how much you like or dislike the group. The video features Max doing a bit of granny grabbing, oo-eer!

Loving You – Matt Cardle & Melanie C

Despite the extremely awkward to watch music video, we can’t help being horribly addicted to this catchy release by 2010 X Factor winner and Sporty Spice.

Lost Generation – Rizzle Kicks

Brighton duo Rizzle Kicks are finally back with the first single from second album, Roaring 20s, released on Monday (September 2). The video for Lost Generation was created with the help of fans after Harley and Jordan ran a competition to get them involved.

We Can’t Stop – Miley Cyrus

Yes, we know Miley’s recent antics and rolling about provocatively in this video is all too embarrassing to watch, but can we really deny turning up the radio everytime this song comes on?! Nope!

Rock N Roll – Avril Lavigne

Starting the video with deliberate mocking of product placement, Avril Lavigne proves to us how cute she still is at the age of 27, and sings to us about rock n’ roll still being very much alive. She is the ‘mother-fucking princess’, after all!

This Is Gospel – Panic! At The Disco

The second helping from upcoming album Too Weird To Live, To Rare To Die!, Panic! At The Disco release the video for This Is Gospel and it involved a lot of front man Brendon Urie’s face and that’s something we definitely can’t say no to!

Best Song Ever – One Direction

…Does this really need an explanation? Really? Not really, no. Deservingly winning Best Song Of The Summer at this years VMA’s, and that’s without going into the brilliant video. Well done, One Direction, i’ll continue singing this at the top of my lungs.

Hold On, We’re Going Home – Drake ft. Majid Jordan

Although no official video for Hold On, We’re Going Home yet, since the rappers medley at the VMA’s, we can’t get enough of this toned down more soulful side to Drake, and it seems we’re not the only one – flying straight into the UK singles charts, currently at number 11.

Sex – The 1975

Every band always waits for ‘that moment’ where all their hard work pays off and they start to get appreciated for what they do. That’s whats happening for The 1975 right now. 11 years and 4 EP’s later, the bands self titled album jam-packed with 16 tracks is released on Monday (September 2).

Applause – Lady Gaga

Would number 1 really be anyone else but comeback queen Lady Gaga? Applause is brilliant, and Little Monster’s have been waiting two years for new music and now it’s finally here. Gaga will perform brand new unheard music from upcoming album ARTPOP, when she kicks off iTunes festival on Sunday (September 1).
