Katy Perry has released the video for the second single from her Prism album, Unconditionally.
Moving away from comedy gimmicks such as candy filled islands and more recently, the jungle, the Unconditionally video sees Katy exploring a more elegant and mature side to music videos. Self admittedly her favourite song on the album, saying it struck an emotional chord inside of her.
“I love this song because not only can it be a romantic, intimate song, but it can be about the type of love that a mother has when she sees her first child, or best friends or partners” said the 29 year old star, who is currently dating singer-songwriter John Mayer.
Director, Brent Bonacorso, spoke out about the video and it’s meaning – “When she sings this song she doesn’t sing it lightly. This love that she speaks of is like a force of nature, epic storm and a tempest, and that’s definitely something I wanted to capture. A more mysterious, elegant and sophisticated world to live in. Less about a time period, and more about creating an impression and a feeling.”
With the explosion of flowers and being hit by a car, this video represents the force of love, and may just be Katy’s best release to date.
Unconditionally is taken from the album Prism, which is out now.
