Believe it or not, it’s been a whole seven months since the last Lady Gaga video, and whilst we patiently waited a video for R Kelly collab single Do What U Want, instead we were greeted with a music video for a completely different song this weekend.
G.U.Y. (an acronym for ‘girl under you’), brings Gaga back into the short music film territory. Titled ‘An ARTPOP film’ and standing at 11 minutes and 46 seconds long (granted 4 minutes of this is credits accompanied by the track MANiCURE), the video is nothing short of spectacular. To perhaps make up for the lack of official video for the last single, the full length video for G.U.Y. is a medley of songs. Starting with album title track ARTPOP and leading into Venus, we don’t actually reach the single G.U.Y. until around the 3 and a half minute mark.
This mammoth video, directed by Lady Gaga herself, demonstrates incredible cinematography with bright colours and scenes you could only dream of. Shot at Hearst Castle in California, G.U.Y. features some special guests in the shape of the Real Housewives of Beverley Hills, as well as a resurrected Michael Jackson and Jesus Christ… What more do you really expect from Miss Gaga?
We thought the 28 year old would struggle to ever beat her 2011 Marry The Night video, but we think she might’ve done it.
G.U.Y. is taken from ARTPOP, which is out now.
