After a string of 5 successful EP’s, singer-songwriter Lewis Watson has finally announced the release of his debut album, The Morning. And if that news isn’t exciting enough, the announcement comes with a beautifully shot 13 minute documentary-style introduction to Lewis Watson, for those of you who have been hiding under a rock for the last couple of years, or just need a pleasant reminder.
“I got my first guitar when I was 16” Lewis explains, “YouTube was quite small then and I didn’t really expect anybody to be looking for people singing songs”. Talking about how it all begun and memorable moments in his career so far such as headlining London’s Koko and taking the stage at Glastonbury not once but twice, Lewis has certainly had a busy year.
Towards the end of the short film, the Oxford-born musician talks about recording the album. “It’s such a scary thing, i’m never going to have a first album again, and I just wanted it to be right. I was lucky to have that kind of cushion of time and to be able to write the songs that I wanted to write.”
The Morning is available for pre-order from March 31st, but if you can’t wait until then, head over to iTunes and grab his equally worthy EP’s.
