It’s been 2 years since the release of the number 1 album ‘Red‘, and today Taylor Swift made her comeback with Shake It Off, the first single taken from her upcoming fifth studio album, ‘1989’.
‘1989’ shall be released as Taylor’s first official pop album, despite the majority of tracks on ‘Red’ being undeniably pop. But, straying away from her usual guitar strums and catchy chorus’, Shake It Off is a new sound for Taylor Swift, and it’ll definitely take some getting used to if you’re used to her original country vibe.
A song essentially about shaking off the haters, Taylor has no problem mocking herself singing the lyrics “I go on too many dates, but I can’t make them stay – at least that’s what people say”. Taylor supports an array of different styles throughout the 4 minute video – including a leopard print and gold-hoop ensemble, a cheerleading outfit, as well as a Gaga-esque wig and shades – but it’s the simple black two piece and red lipstick that we love the most.
Despite the questionable auto-tuned rap about “getting down to sick beats”, Shake It Off is just as catchy as you’d imagine a T Swift song to be, after 2012’s We Are Never Getting Back Together, 22, and I Knew You Were Trouble.
‘1989’ is available for pre-order via taylorswift.com, and is out October 27th.
