INTRODUCING: KYKO

This week’s been a game changer, hasn’t it? The sun’s been shining, some people have been daring to bare leg (people who are far braver than me!), beer gardens have been comfortably filled once again: summer is coming.

With all this in mind, it was about time to introduce you to the first addition to your summer playlist. Enter eighteen-year-old KYKO – otherwise known as Scott Verrill – and his debut single ‘Animals’.

For a debut track, ‘Animals’ is astoundingly accomplished. KYKO has bottled summer, shaken it like champagne, and popped the cork to a track that boasts enchanting vocals, hazy electronica, and guitars reminiscent of Two Door Cinema Club. I dare you to listen to it without envisaging car rides with the roof down, or dancing at BBQs with friends by your side and a drink in hand.

If this is our first taste of KYKO’s talents, I can only imagine the success he’ll go on to have. After creating an impressive gigging history on the London circuit, including a set at Redfest in 2014, KYKO has spent most of 2015 writing and recording new material. Working with esteemed names like songwriter Tim Woodcock (John Newman, Eliza Doolittle) and songwriter/producer Edd Holloway (Saint Raymond, Gabrielle Aplin, Charlie Simpson), KYKO’s next offerings are sure to be phenomenal.

You can listen to ‘Animals’ now and an EP of the same name will be released later this year. Keep your eyes peeled for any live dates, and we’ll see you there!
